Originally from Salt Lake City, Ms. Culligan came to Parker from Arizona in 2014. All of the past generations of her family on her mother’s side were born and raised on the Big Island.

She graduated summa cum laude with bachelor of fine arts degrees in art education and theater arts education from the University of Arizona and completed a master of arts in elementary education from Northern Arizona University. Prior to joining Parker, Ms. Culligan worked for five years as a high school visual art, theater and psychology teacher at a private school in Tucson, Arizona.

She has coached speech and debate for the last five years, has done extensive work as a mural and scenic painter, is an avid dancer (swing, salsa, blues, afro-Brazilian), and enjoys gardening and spending time with her son, Hoku. She believes in fostering the 3 C’s in her classes: caring, connection and creation; empowering students to discover their artistic voice by caring deeply about their work, connecting to one another as a supportive community of learners, and experiencing a rich art education that provides the skills and techniques students need to create anything they can imagine.
